I recently left my university and attended a community college for my spring semester. I worked really hard and got all a’s and decided to go back to my original university. I got back in and now i have the issue of my financial aid. I have to file an appeal and i was wondering what i should include, anything showing my good grades? And what should i write about in my statement? I had a hard time adjusting and now i have really found my way as far as school goes. If i am denied is there anything i can do? I wouldn’t get my loans? I never received money just loans. Thank you!
You should absolutely show your good grades … that is the best supporting evidence you have that you could be successful if you return to your university. Your statement should focus briefly on what contributed to your poor grades previously (be brief - no long, drawn out stories - just the facts), then detail what you did differently at the CC to bring your grades up. Explain how you will continue on that path if you are able to attend the university again.
You still may be denied. The university may expect you to attend without federal aid to prove yourself, at which time they may consider reinstating your aid. In that case, you would not get federal loans for the semester you are not eligible for aid. You would have to either work & save, paying in cash … or borrow from other sources (parents, grandparents, private loan).
