I was recently admitted to SLC through RD, and was told it was because they had about 300 student applications that had been turned in early and they were sure they wanted to admit. I was wondering who the other 300 students were and how they feel about SLC, and anyone else admitted by ED.
Also, are there other people who haven’t gotten in yet who would like to share their thoughts?
My daughter made it in ED! She is thrilled!!! She can’t wait for HS to be done now that she knows that she made it in. So, there were 300 ED applications? That is a lot! I am glad she made it. I can only imagine how many applications will come in for RD.
Sorry, I should have rephrased! I was told in an email that there were 300 Regular Decision applications that they deemed worthy enough to admit this early. I have no idea how many ED applications there were this year.
How did you find out that you were accepted early with regular decision? Did they email you or did you check the portal? thanks.
I was sent two emails: one that said my application status had been updated, and another that explained why I had been admitted so early. Since SLC has no EA option, I wasn’t expecting an answer until March/April, so this was a pleasant surprise!
My daughter got accepted in the 2nd wave of ED and got the news through email then they sent a “Fat Envelope”. She very excited and looking forward to it.
Congratulations to her!!
Thank you for the reply. Congrats!
What were your guys’ stats?
When are we supposed to hear back from SL?
My daughter was also accepted during the second round of ED. She received a phone about her acceptance, email and then finally the ‘big package’. She received a very good merit scholarship and great financial aid package. She loves the school and can’t wait to start. I must admit they were the most inviting and interested in promoting their school compared to others on our list. We were very impressed.
Just an update for me, personally: upon visiting SLC, I determined it isn’t for me. Beautiful campus, but I don’t thinkII would fit in with the people, and it seems a little too heavily focused on theater for my comfort. Was looking for more of an intellectual environment. Thanks to those who commented.
On the SLC site it says it says late March/Early April.
as I said in my previous comment, SLC emailed me and about 300 other students informing us (RD applicants) that they had decided to admit us early because they were positive about our applications. I believe it might have something to do with the fact that I submitted my application in early November, so they possibly just created an EA option for themselves. I’m aware I wasn’t supposed to hear until later. Anyone that hasn’t heard back yet should hear later this month or in April.
For anyone wondering, last year decisions came out Friday 3/17. I think it’s very possible they’ll come out tomorrow. Good luck everyone!
Just got my notice! I was accepted!!
Accepted as well!
Words cannot describe my elation!!
Heartbroken to discover I was waitlisted.
Stats for anyone wondering.
GPA: 4.28
SAT: 1380
ACT: 31
If you got accepted would you mind posting your stats?
My son was waitlisted too.
GPA: 4.4
SAT: 1420
Great recommendations
He’s gotten into more competitive schools so not sure what the dealbreaker was. We didn’t visit and have high financial need so those may be factors.
