Wanted to open this thread for Fall transfer prospectives. Does anyone know when we should expect a decision?
Also waiting. Transfer admissions counselor at my college visit said late April/early May for first choices. Guess it is rolling admissions based on most desirable candidates?
My daughter applied as a transfer and got admitted last week. Received an email that there had been an update to her portal. Then earlier this week - got another update and her merit award was there. She will not be attending so will hopefully open a space for someone else!
Still waiting. The admissions counselor on the phone told me transfers won’t get a decision until “probably another couple of weeks” and encouraged me to deposit somewhere else for the time being.
The wait is killing me! Anyone have any updates to share?
@poetdontchaknow haven’t heard anything back yet. It’s really frustrating most colleges have to sort through thousand of apps and I have already heard back from them. Kind of unprofessional for SL imo
I still haven’t heard anything, I spoke to my admissions counselor and he said that transfer admissions come out anytime between early April and late June…
I heard a similar thing from the transfer admissions counselor, though he said early May to mid June.
This is so frustrating. It feels as though they are prioritizing transfer students last.
They are, it’s that way at most colleges: freshman admissions are handled first and then transfers apps are evaluated based on the space that’s left.
Has anyone else heard anything yet?
Not me
Last year everyone got it the first week of May at the latest. I had to commit to another school because they had a deadline and SLC still didn’t have my decision so it’s too late for me attend regardless of my admission. Still eager to hear back since I interviewed. At this point expect to hear back sometime in June.
Still no news?
No news on my end. But I got into the Columbia University General Studies program last night so I will most likely be going there. It’s too bad-- Sarah Lawrence was one of my top picks, but this admissions process really discouraged me from the school!
If I could ask y’all a question- to those who got accepted, did you feel like the criteria was holistic? I am considering Sarah Lawrence among my top three transfer school choices in Fall 2020 (coming from UChicago) and while I had excellent stats all around in high school, am a great writer (creative writing is my focus), held a job at an art gallery in college and participated in extracurriculars, my GPA is kinda low- 2.96 with 3.0 by the time I finish my incomplete courses this fall. The reason for my awful GPA was that I struggled a lot with mental health during my two years there and was even hospitalized twice (second time following a suicide attempt; was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and am not doing super well in outpatient therapy). I am trying to find a way to make these circumstances known- maybe having my academic advisor (whom I talked to A LOT about this during my time there) write me a letter to supplement with the explanation? Help is appreciated and good luck!
Hello @Clementine7624, would you mind sharing the details of your daughter’s application? Her GPA, extracurricular, any notable award, her personal statement and what is the major she applied to? And what did she think got her accepted?
So I got rejected. Someone please tell me why. So I applied just as I graduated CC. I had 60+ credits with a 3.4 GPA. I did really bad in high school (2.4) and I had to send them the transcript so I think that may have hurt me. I also had 5 W’s on my college transcript. Other than that, I was involved in 5 extracurriculars in college and was part of the honors society. I also interviewed via Skype and thought it went pretty well. I wrote in my personal statement that I was pursuing law and was interested in activism because of having a history of bullying in the past (not sure if that fact hurt me either). But nonetheless I believe they were strong essays and very passionate. And I know it’s not a game changer but I also submitted a good writing assignment I wrote in college. Ugh someone please tell me why I got rejected.
Hi @peanutbutt. Her high school GPA was a 3.9, her college GPA a 3.85. She was president of a couple of high school clubs, ACT 31, applied as undeclared
