I just looked at SLC's website today. The first thing I saw was the Princeton Review rankings on the "changing" banner thingy. For a college that noisily opposes college rankings, Sarah Lawrence is quite hypocritical to tout its favorable position in PR's rankings to prospies. What do you guys think?

I think it’s ranking based on test scores that SLC opposes. Not sure what this new ranking is that you mention but the College was quite proud of its recent ‘best professors’ score.

I agree with samuck. SL is not so crazy as to think that rankings don’t matter. I think it recognizes that this is an unfortunate system that it must live with. As evidence, I point to the president’s comments when she refused to look at SAT scores. USNWR randomly chose v. poor scores for the school, thus bludgeoning its ranking in that overly influential magazine. She recognized that this choice–to treat applicants as human beings rather than numbers – would “hurt” the school somewhat because of USNWR (perhaps retaliatory) move to assign a random, low number.
