Hello everyone, I was wondering if I have a shot of getting into Sarah Lawrance with not so good grades. I write a lot and my writing is very good, my teachers love me and will write me fantastic recommendations, and I am involved in many school activities including an ambassador program, editor and chief of my school’s newspaper and also being in charge of my schools yearbook.
You can get a sense of what their class stats are like online or from college guide books. Apply and see what happens.
How low is low? Some people on here think 3.7 is low…
While it depends on what exactly you mean by “low,” Sarah Lawrence is test-optional and requires (or strongly recommends; I can’t remember) a graded writing supplement. Both of these will likely work to your advantage, and if you like the school, I would strongly encourage you to apply.
That being said, as always, make sure you take financial aid into consideration; it’s a very expensive school, and they’re known for being not overly generous with money.
Well I haven’t received my transcript yet so it’s difficult to say how “low”. Thank you all for your responses.
Test optional means they emphasize grades even more.
@Zheria Are you getting a mix of As and Bs? Straight Bs? A mix of Bs and Cs? From that info we can ballpark GPA.
Well as a freshman and sophomore I had a mix of A’s and B’s. I am currently a junior and my grades are mostly B’s and C’s.

Just present yourself in the best light. I would try to avoid any Cs in Sr year first semester. The gpa breakdown shows there is some room for a more lopsided student. Course rigor is marked Very Important along with Essay and Recommendation, where gpa is marked Important. I would say it is worth an application but get the rest of your list filled out.
