SAT 1 Math 710 vs Math level 2 790 for Top Colleges like MIT and Caltech

Hi, as it said in the title I took the SAT last June and got a 710 on the Math after getting a 790 in May for the Level 2 test. Will Top schools like MIT and Ivy leagues look past my 710 or should I retake the SAT (I’m pretty sure I can score an 800). Also I get a 2150 (730 CR, 710 M, and 710 W). Thanks

Yes you should retake not necessarily because of the 710 in math but because of the 2150 SAT.
Depending on your hooks (if any), and your other accomplishments, you will need around a 2250 SAT or higher to be competitive at these schools.

on the contrary- you need to take it again SPECIFICALLY because of the low Math score. Especially for CalTech and MIT

for instance- the range of Math SAT scores of enrolled students at Caltech in 2014 were
770 25th percentile- 800- 75th percentile

here are some admission statistics from the 2014 Common Data Set.

C9 Percent and number of first-time, first-year (freshman) students enrolled in Fall 2014 who submitted national standardized (SAT/ACT) test scores. Include information for ALL enrolled, degree-seeking, first-time, first-year (freshman) students who submitted test scores. Do not include partial test scores (e.g., mathematics scores but not critical reading for a category of students) or combine other standardized test results (such as TOEFL) in this item. Do not convert SAT scores to ACT scores and vice versa. The 25th percentile is the score that 25 percent scored at or below; the 75th percentile score is the one that 25 percent scored at or above.

C9 Percent submitting SAT scores 88% Number submitting SAT scores 200
C9 Percent submitting ACT scores 41% Number submitting ACT scores 93

C9 25th Percentile 75th Percentile
C9 SAT Critical Reading 730 800
C9 SAT Math 770 800

Agreed-retake.
