Sat 1 writing Section

ok, I just wanted to know, exactly how does NU evaluate the writing section on the sat 1?

from what i heard, they don't use it. but i'm not exactly sure. does anyone else know?

i emailed northwestern and they said they aren't using it

here's the email:

As for your last question, you are required to submit either the ACT or the SAT with the writing portion, but we are still in a data collection process with the writing portion. We will see your score and we want you to do your best, but we will not be using the writing portion of your tests when we review your application.

pacers did you recently asked them or did you ask them last year? because r they still gathering info this year?

When I was out there in October they said they didn't have enough information to use the writing section for admissions. They are only looking at it to collect data.

i emailed them about two months ago

=D ok so i guess ur info is accuarate =D thanks! this really helps!

would they still not evaluate it for medill too? cause i did pretty well on writing and i think it would help me overall if they did take it into account. and on collegeboard, it says "SAT or ACT writing component will be used as follows:
For Admission
As a validity check on the application essay"

so i'm guessing they do somehow incorporate it into your stats?

oh and it says that on collegeboard under the SAT section for northwestern specifically

all we're saying is sat I they do not look at writing section...but of course getting a 800 in it will be better than getting a 500
