I just got rejected from Stanford EA.
Please rate my chances at the following colleges on RD:
Yale, Berkeley, UPenn, Cornell, Wash. U., JHU, CMU, U. of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Duke
I put down biomedical engeering or undecided engeering as an intended major.

Yale: no chance, don't bother applying
Berkeley- nearly impossible reach
UPenn- nearly impossible reach
Cornell-big reach
Wash. U.-big reach
JHU-reach
CMU-reach
U. of Michigan-Ann Arbor- nearly impossible reach
Duke- nearly impossible reach

you need way more realistic schools! You statistically (probably) won't get into any of those schools!

thx, anyone else?
English is my second language.

90~100 = A+
80~90 = A

I mean, with a 620 verbal, the ivies are probably out of reach, no offense, and I've read Canadian international students apply in amazing amounts to US schools. Still apply to those schools, but apply to others too. :)

sry, i keep adding things..........TOEFL 277 (TWE 5.5)

maybe ive been dreaming.
would the verbal score really hurt my chances that much?
i have some safety schools in canada, so i won't apply any safeties in the states.
anyone else, please?

you can keep a few reaches, nothing is impossible you know, but you should level out your list with some matches and safeties. ;)

i dont get it... (people please fill me in)

he's an non-native english speaker(how long have you been in canada?),
and has great scores(SAT1, SAT2), GPA, extra-activities, awards and so on..

doesnt being a forienger kinda cover a little low verbal score?
or am i misunderstanding in a big time??

Yea what are youguys talking about, i think he has a good chance at some of the schools. I would agree that Yale is a big reach, but the rest aren't bad at all. By the way, if you want to go to JHU, and are interested in running track there, talk to the coach. He is a really nice guy and he might be able to help you get in, (also if you are interested in BME there is no place better than JHU)

thx a lot. ive been in canada for three years.
do u guys think that i should spend some space to mention those ranks in contests?

These people are crazy, you have a great shot at many of these places! You might need some safeties, sure, but its a great list!!

Yale: Reject: 5% Chance
Berkeley: Matchy Reach: 45% Chance
UPenn: Higher Reach: 20% Chance
Cornell: Lower Reach: 35% Chance
Wash. U.: Lower Reach: 45% Chance
JHU: Lower Reach: 45% Chance
CMU: Match: 70% Chance
U. of Michigan-Ann Arbor: Matchy Reach: 55% Chance (Don't apply engineering though, apply Liberal Arts - science and switch later)
Duke: Higher Reach: 20% Chance

yeah dude, ranger idk wth your smoking bro, but this kid has a great chance, i think you're being WAY to harsh on everyone that is giving their stats, and not the harsh truth, just idiotic harshness, you have to realize that there is more than just a verbal score...seeing as is every freakin post that you posted has some remark about verbal (HE IS NOT AN ENGLISH NATIVE SPEAKER), i think he has a his best chances at berk, cmu, jhu, wash, i agree with slippers chances, anywayz thats my 2 cents, ranger u gotta chill bro...

thats one crazy grading scale ...
