What is the best SAT 2 Bio Book? Is it Barrons because it is pretty detailed?

kaplan was good for me

I'm studying out of Barron's and it's really really good. Having only taken freshman biology and then genetics/microbiology/embryology, I didn't know much about ecology and plants and stuff, and Barron's is really helpful. They have a lot of good charts and pictures and review quizzes and stuff. Plus they have 4 tests, two for Bio E and two for Bio M so you can see how well you would do depending on what you pick.

Many people say that Barrons is very different (and much harder) than the actual test, though. You might end up studying material that won't even show up on the real test. Is it worth the extra time to study from Barrons or would it be better to go with Kaplan/Princeton and risk missing something?

EDIT: After doing a search, I found that other posters recommend Barrons for Bio. I'm not sure why I felt the need to add this in my post, but it might help the OP...?

I agree that barrons is harder. Try sparknotes. that is what I used with good results.

Barrons may be more difficult, but it will definitely pay off. I'd say go with Barrons for everything that you're taking.

barrons just freaks u out, half of that stuff is not even on it, and definitely not in such detail. i used sparknotes (dont usually like this brand but it was extremely useful for bio sat 2)

sparknotes is quite good. I'm using it now to prep for the May test. I found barrons way too hard and I'm guessing the sat 2 is not really going to be that hard. By the way, I only took freshman bio which didnt cover half teh stuff on the sat 2 (My school only allows AP Bio in 12th grade).

what about princeton?

Princeton Review and Sparknotes have always been reliable books. Their practice test are always on the level of the real tests. Barron's is difficult and will be discouraging. Don't bother with that. It'll be more useful taking practice tests that are like the real test.

Can't I just get sparknotes BIO SATII from the website?

i think u actually have to buy the bio sparknotes. also a quick comment on princeton review: for bio i think it simplifies things and does not include some of the things on the test. for bio, i think sparknotes is the best (its difficulty is between that of princeton and barrons)

yes you can get the sparknotes book off the website although i discourage it. Get the book used on ebay or something. Its a lot more stressing trying to learn concepts off a computer screen than a book.
