Sat 2 Biology: Barron's Vs Princeton Review

I've searched topics on the forums, I can't decide which to get.

Ideally I think one should get BOTH of them, but I can only afford to get one.

Here is what I need: a brief review/refresher of all the topics, something that reminds me of all those 'facts' you need to know, like biological terms/names for things etc. And then of course after that I need practice tests/questions to prepare me for the real thing by going through all the questions that I get wrong.

Another thing, I definitely want to aim for 800.

So which do you think I should go with?

Go for the Barron’s book. It’s a lot better for compact review. The information is condensed pretty well. It’s perfect for plain old review. If you were just learning the material Kaplan would be a better fit but since you just need to refresh your memory, go with Barron’s

I see, so are the Barron’s test similar to the real thing? or are they more difficult/easier.

Also do they test only what is relevant for SAT 2 Biology, or do they go outside the syllabus. Or do they not touch some topics?

And lastly are there enough practice questions in the Barron’s book to prep a person enough to get a 800 (considering one does do them fully).

~Thanks for the help.

The pr book does a really good job teaching about the organ systems. There is not a lot of information given about plants, they just go over the basic stuff. Overall, i think it’s a good review book and i like the format. I haven’t seen the barron book so i can’t really say anything. Just go to the local book store and see each one. Different books suit different people. good luck!

@twhpfan5, Thank you. I’ll definitely go and check them out.

I have both of them and Kaplan. I think Kaplan is the worse. They give you 100 page of info and give you 20 prep questions. Between Pr and Barron each have it’s own pros and cons. PR is more interactive, giving you 5-10 prep questions every 3-8 pages. Barron gives you 20 prep questions around every 20 pages. PR explains stuff very thoroughly, but Barron has extra info on some small topics because it’s so condense. Also I notice some typos in Barrons. And I agree that PR’s section on the plant is very lacking. It only covered photosynthesis and leaf structure, didn’t show the images of Dicot and Monocot stems and roots. But then again, PR’s section about viruses was a lot more detailed than Barron. I really can’t say which one is better.

Both! Or what I’ve been doing through these 2 weeks of study. Read PR, practice tests, read barrons, practice tests, sparknotes practice tests, read kaplan, practice tests. You should get 750+ with that.
