SAT 2 Chem Discussion May 2 2009

no there wasnt…

There were none that involved calculations.

Just a conceptual one about sugar vs NaCl.

anybody else???

it think it was false and true or something like that

what was that sugar nacl one?
and i thought there was something about what the freezing pt would be if something was added…

i have a chem teacher
who barely speaks english
im tellin u
the test cudve been worse
the one about quanta and stuff was weird tho
ive never seen tht before

Sugar has a lower freezing point than NaCl. and the freezing point depression is dependent on the number of particles or something along those lines.

Answer was F T.

it was harder than normal, hopfully june will be my redemption of chemistry lmao…

What was the answer to that anyway? I guessed that. (The one about electrons, quanta and all that)

I know electrons give off light as they go between orbitals. And they need energy to do so but that answer was a guess.

Electrons emit energy in discrete packets called quanta…that was the answer.

wat did u guyz get on ur sat reasoning? im a sophomore whose gonna take itnext year
im just curious

noo im pretty sure solutes lower the freezing point

isnt it -.51 times nnumber of ions times molality

Be careful with the word “light.” They give off electromagnetic radiation. This could be light, or it could be gamma radiation, UV radiation, etc.

Solutes do lower the freezing point. In water, the freezing point is depressed by 1.86 K for every molal quantity of solute.

2130
790 math
670 cr
670 writing

wat did u guyz get on ur sat reasoning? im a sophomore whose gonna take itnext year
im just curious

Ah yes. IR, UV, Gamma as electrons go through orbitals. Forgot about that - I just remembered seeing the light spectrum diagram compared to IR or radiation when I was learning it. Guess I forgot.

There was no question asking how much the freezing point was lowered was there? I just remember the TTCE section question with the salt and sugar one.

Guess I got maybe 3-4, maybe 5 wrong with no omits then. Hoping for a good curve but I didn’t find it that hard in general…

Didn’t take reasoning yet, taking them next month and I’m a junior. But I’m Canadian…so SATs arn’t really high priority up in Canuck land

shaheiruddin, i hope the curve is like that ><
my raw right now is at 77.5 … hopefully i didnt make any more mistakes

ummm didn’t take reasoning yet. but i got 221 on the PSATs as a sophomore.
math 76, writing 75, CR 70 i think. :
math should have been 80… i got one question wrong because i copied one of the numbers from the problem wrong >.>

I got 227 on PSAT

My raw right now is 78 I think, maybe 76/77 if I’m unaware of some mistakes.

wow as a sophomore, im assuming ur still a sophomore? thats amazing, puts me to shame lol

was there an enthalpy question? something with +27 or something of like that as an answer anyone remember???
