ok i so i took the sat 2 chem test in june after taking an AP class and got a 650....i want to bring it up to 700+.... I have the barron's book, what do i need to do to get there by nov test date?

study.... duh? o_o

thanks for the groundbreaking advice....maybe i should rephrase the question....how much do i need to study to get to a 700 by november 1?

You should at least do 30 minutes a day.
Just do practice tests, and review EVERYTHING. even the ones you get right.
after doing ~5 practice tests and reviewing them, you can almost assure youself a 700.

I took it last June too and got a 780, no AP Chem. I used the Sparknotes review book. All I did was read, like anhtimmy said above me, for 30-45 minutes a day. Once I finished the reading, I did practice tests. I started studying about 1 month or 3 weeks before the exam.

alright thanks for the help...so the sparknotes book is good? i checked amazon and there were no reviews for it....is it better than PR and others? Also, you say you did practice tests, were they the sparknotes practice tests or other ones?

You can get sparknotes for free on its website.
why waste money buying it?

anhtimmy, sorry, that's what I meant. I used the website SparkNotes: SAT Chemistry: SparkNotes: SAT Chemistry

ah...thank you so much for the link, you just saved me ~$20, lol

oh wait, i still have to pay $15 for the tests....damn it

tests are free. lol!
make a different account for each test. x]

you just gained a lot of respect

be aware though, that your scores on the sparknotes tests will probably be lower than your scores on the real test, at least this is what i've found and what other people seem to report. The sn tests have a harsher curve, and imo have slightly harder questions.

thats a good thing so i dont get a lower than expected score.....before i took the sat 2 chem test last june, i took a practice test in barron's and i got in the 680-700 range....from what i'd heard, barron's gives you lower scores then what you're really going to get so i thought i was fine and that i'd maybe get a 720 or so..then i ended up with a 650 lol

It seems like a classic case of over confidence.
Don't tell youself, "Oh Barrons is hard so I'll score 100+ better on the real thing."

Make yourself think that the crappy score is what you are going to get. That motivates you alot. lol.

Or you could just do what I did and get 800 on barrons tests so that there is not question on what your gonona do on the real test day.

if i read all the text and formula written in the Barron's book will that be enough?...i mean do i have to read further reference books?...am from India n I dont quite understand the course content of ur AP n stuff...I have chemistry for the past 2 years...
