Thread for SAT Subject : Chemistry in November!!
I am taking ap chem. I don’t feel I ready yet. Should I wait till I am done ap?
How does the oxidation number vary in the periodic table?
@seyll00
(these are usually the oxidation numbers, but not always the case)
Metals:
alkali metals +1
alkali earth metals +2
Nonmetals:
Group 7 (-3)
Group 8 (-2)
Halogens( -1)
Oxygen always has a (-2) charge except for in hydrogen peroxide when it has a (-1) charge. Hydrogen is usually (+1). Always start with oxygen and base the oxidation numbers off of it. For example in CO2 --> oxygen will have a 2x(-2)=-4 charge. Since the molecule is neutral (has a charge of 0), carbon will have a +4 charge to balance the net charge to zero.
Is quantitative electrochemistry on the SAT Chem subject test? For example, the use of the equation F=c/n or amperes x time = C
If so what units is time in? seconds? hours?
I scored a 740 in Oct after mis-bubbling and mixing up 2 answers. I took it after 1 year of Hon Chem as freshman (may do AP chem in Junior yr) . Should I try to take it again in the hope my score will improve?
How was the test guys ? :-?
Could you predict the curve ?
Bruh I started studying last summer for like one chapter and then I started again two days before the test. It was hard
How hard was it for you ? Generally you lose maybe only 2 -4 and still get 800 .Other subjects are much more lenient . So do you think that harder than an average test ?
I reaallyy didn’t do well… How many of you guys think it was hard? I really hope i get 700+ >.<
How many TTCEs? I got 3.
Similar number .Don’t remember exactly @seyll00
So could anyone predict the curve for this particular test considering that this test was hard .
I haven’t seen any curve more lenient than getting 4-5 wrong and still getting an 800.
Oh still that is harsh but let us keep our hopes high :)>-
I think most of the ttces were at the end .Is that right?
@Lookuptothesky yea! I didn’t get any in the beginning and I started to wonder whether I was doing everything wrong.
Oh my god at least I am assured of some of the questions.
Does anyone remember how many choices were there for the UV rays and something related to that on the test? That question contained multiple sub-questions xx-xx, and it was somewhere at the beginning of the test.
