I'm currently in french 4 and would consider myself to be a pretty good french student. However, after trying a practice test for both the listening part and one w/o, I can't see any way how I'd be able to get at least a 750 on it.
My counsoler had previously told me that the SAT writing counts as an SAT 2, but that's wrong, so now I am one short. I am planning on taking APUSH over the summer (it's pretty expensive and 170 hours over 4 weeks), so I can take this class, but he tells me that there'd just be too much for me to remember and then do well at the SAT 2 (because I'd still have to remember the material for a 2 months or so)
so, does anyone have any advice on the SAT french with or without listening? like anyone who previously took it? if you did well, how did you prepare and how hard did u think it was before you prepared if u did at all?

oh yea also, does anyone think that this book could help me get a 750 like the reviewer says it does? http://www.amazon.com/SAT-Subject-Tests-History-2005-2006/dp/0743265378/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-1146368-5456615?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1174514546&sr=8-1
the person who reviewed the book says that "I would bet that anyone could get a 750 just by reading the book through 3 or 4 times"
do you believe that's true considering that i've never taken us history of any sort? only govt. and politics and civics i guess

no, i heard kaplan for sat ii us was not very helpful, and besides having only one review is not very trustworthy :P
i would recommend kaplan btw for US History

and language SaT II's are nearly impossible for non-native speakers :(

The language SAT II's are pretty tough. I think that with a strong APUS course and some decent studying, you are more likely to get a strong score on the US SAT II than on the French one...US is just much easier to prepare for. It would be ideal if you could take the US SAT II shortly after taking APUS, but taking it a couple months later will by no means doom your score.

I think you should take the French SATII. Since French is not your native language, colleges will appreciate to see that you are making an effort in studying it anyways.... even if you get a slightly lower grade (600s) it will still look good.
I am in the same situation as you btw... I'm learning French as a second language and I'll hopefully try to do my best.. Good luck!

I'd recommend not doing the listening French -- it's considerably more difficult and doesn't make a very big difference in admissions.
