Hello everyone. Just over 2 weeks before the November Math 2 test! Let’s discuss preparation and studying before the test, cramming the night before the test, reactions to the test, and our scores once we receive them.
I just bought my Barron’s and I’m thinking about getting Chung’s. Took a diagnostic and I got 680. Looks like I have a bit of work to do if I want a 780-800!

Hey guys, I took the Oct test and got 780. On Barrons tests I usually scored in the low 700s, so dont worry too much if your Barrons scores are not what youre aiming for.
@misschoding is barron’s just harder? or does it have too much content in it? i haven’t taken math 2 but barron’s seems to have a lot of stuff that we won’t need to know
@CollageWhat I think Barron’s is overall a bit harder. Some people think that Barron’s is impossible, but I don’t think it’s that much harder… There were some things in the Barrons book that weren’t even mentioned in the actual test, but I don’t think that reflects Barrons, because no prep book can cover only what the test is going to have.
Barrons was tough the first time through. I bought about 8 books for the math 2c and dr chungs 12 practice tests didnt even come close to any others for prep. Dr chungs makes barrons feel simple. I have 2 practice books left now, one woth 15 practice tests thats supposed to be harder than chungs and the barrons one i rebought. Going to take the 15 practice tests throughout the week and then tbe 6 barrons on the friday before probs. Tuning in on this thread now for the conversation after btw
I have Kaplan and Barron’s but I only study from my Barron’s book. I finished the material yesterday and am gonna review tomorrow then start testing. For the Barron’s diagnostic, I scored a 670 and I really want a 750 minimum. I also wanted to ask if the Barron’s is overloaded. I mean…Kaplan is 7 chapters while Barron’s has 22.
@Dodie99
Barrons is somewhat over kill on some things. I took the barrons diagnostic test today just to see and got 4 questions wrong and they were the most obscure random things. For example, one barrons test i took one time had an inverse matrix. Hopefully the real thing doesnt have that difficult of questions, and i doubt it does because if it did then the 83% wouldnt be 800
@satwolf
for that you’ve written to be 1, (x^2-3x+2)=0 or (x^2-x-6)=1.
if (x^2-3x+2)=0, (x-2)(x-1)=0 therefore x= 1,2
if (x^2-x-6)=1, there are two roots with fractions and square roots(using scientific calculator)
It might not be correct but I think it there are 4 values of x
I think mcgraw hill is easier. Anyone know the approximate amount of questions on matrices? I barely know them and idk if i even should, i still get 800’s in barrons but if theres a matrix i just skip. Some people have said there isnt usually even any matrix questions?
@kentonpalmer Just learn how to input them and manipulate them in your calculator. It’s not too hard to learn. I don’t think the subject test would ask for anything other than multiplying, adding, subtracting, and finding the determinant, all of which are easy to do on the calculator.
