**SAT 2 Physics Discussion Thread Nov 2015**

@OnAHyperbola for every question you get wrong you lose 0.25. If the curve will be lenient you need a raw score of 60 to get 800 . So if you get 12 wrong and don’t leave any question you will get an 800. Every point you lose after that from your raw score you will lose 10 points from your scaled score. So a raw score of 59 will get you 790, raw score of 58 will get you 780 and so on.

how many can i expect with leavng 10 and getting 10-12 wrong

Around 750, if the curve is good

@Braveheart53 if you left 10 and got 12 wrong your raw score will be 50 so if the curve is lenient you will get 700

Half of the people here have no idea about the curve. Please don’t ask them to predict it. With 10 omissions and -12 you could get a lot higher than a 700.

Other than the usual physics prep books, do you guys know of any other helpful books?

@Learner12388 The SAT physics requires intelligence as much as it requires preparation and I don’t think cramming several books into your head will help you much

@Lesnar8 open the Princeton review book . So,we here in the last few pages they show you how to calculate scores. That’s how I am predicting the scores. Are you trying to say that the people at Princeton Review don’t know how to calculate scores?

@Lesnar8 i guess you are right. 57-58 should be an 800 on this this test. 50 or even 45 should be pretty good.

about other books, you really dont need them. You probably have studied physics for AP or school; that knowledge should be enough. Just open the princeton review and start revising the chapters your are not confident in. Also, there will be some topics you haven’t studied in school, for them PR will be enough

also khan academy is a very good resource if you are lacking in a concept. I find it very useful at time.

@Mohjito,

just so you know, my friends thought that they would get 700 in physics with what PR and barrons showed them. They ended up with 790 and 800. TBH, none of the books are a good indicator of how scores will vary. The curve can not be pre-determined with any accuracy. so PR, may or may not be correct in the scores. That’s all I’m saying.

@Lesnar8 that’s good to know :slight_smile: how was your test btw?

@Mohijto, It was ok I guess :confused: Had to skip like 7 questions. I think I must have gotten a few wrong as well :frowning:

@Lesnar8

Im in the same boat as you ! Skipped 7 & probs 10-15 wrong

One more week till scores. Nervous, I left two and got 9 wrong can I get an 800??

Yes definitely

Brace for impact. 1 day to go!

Got me an 800! Yello’s “Oh yeah!” playing in my mind.
