Hello. I'm appearing for sat physics in December but I started my preparation a whole back because I had free time. So here is where I stand: I started my prep with pr and I wasn't disappointed. Pr really impressed me.
But after gong through the book, I decided to take tests from barrons and pr, just for practice. And my scores were:

Pr. 1st test. Raw score 69. 2nd Raw score 66.
Barrons 1st test. Raw score 70. 2nd, 69. 3rd, 66.

According to the scoring grid provided by pr, all my scores make a 800 so that's pretty encouraging. :]

But i did face a problem. Barrons asked questions about topics which pr didn't discuss at all. Like, 'why are colors in soap bubbles formed?' or 'A bright lime spectrum.may be obtained by' or 'An x ray resembles which ray in nature?'. Compton effect was also there. Along with alot of other weird concepts. But I didn't see it in pr. :/ so I'm confused. Should I read barrons thoroughly? Are these concepts really necessary for the test? Because pr obviously didn't think so. Also, is there any more prep I can do? More practice tests maybe if available on the internet. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also! If you're appearing in Dec for physics, math or Chem then feel free to ask me anything about them!

My friend just gave me McGraw Hill for Physics. Any idea on how good it is? And how accurate the practice tests are? Because PR has only 2 tests.

No idea about that book. But I know that they’ve just started making booms for sat preparation. Pr really is a good book. I suggest you give it a try, the topics are very well explained.

Yup, I’ll be using PR primarily. I was thinking of using McGraw Hill just for its practice tests. But i suppose I won’t it anyway, after Sparknotes fix their site :P

Ah yes, people do refer to sparknotes here if you want an 800. But I’ve heard you have to pay them to have access to their practice tests. :|

Oh no. Apparently, you get 1 test free with an account. So, you gotta make 5 accounts for 5 tests
But, none of that matter at the moment. Their test centre is down for maintenance and I don’t know how long it’ll take :/

Oh really? Well I think they provide a specific test for users who don’t pay. Else people like you might take unfair advantage.
Check their Facebook page, they usually post how long they take to fix their site.

Haha, I don’t know.

Yeah, I also e-mailed them asking how long it would take but they haven’t responded…

I’m personally not a big fan of McGraw Hill. I have always found that the practice tests they provide are easier than the actual tests. The opposite goes for Barrons. The Barrons test have always seemed so much harder to me, and I always get scores WAY below my actual scores. Princeton Review has always been great.

Ohh hmm.
I guess I’ll try to get my hands on Sparknotes when I’m done with PR for physics and in math, I’ll try using PR after I’m done with Barrons.
Thank you :)
