Math II: 800
Chemistry: 800
US History: 800
Physics: 780

I think subject tests vary a huge amount by subject. I had 800s in math, phy and chem (they were cake walks too) and I know several other kids who had the same or nearly the same like 800,800,780. here’s my breakdown:

25th-75th, 10th-90th

math I (less adept kids taking this one) 700-750; 630 - 800
math II 740-780; 680-800
physics 730-780; 660-800
chem 720 - 780; 650-800
bio 700-760; 640-800
most languages: 760-800; 620-800

now just guessing from what i’ve seen on college confid

Lit 690-750; 630-790
USH 680-750; 620-780
WH 670-760; 620-800

take home message: if you’re above the 25th percentile, you’re ok. If you’re around the 10th percentile for a lot of them, you better be outstanding relative to the applicant pool at other things.

There is nearly no value in taking more than two tests, some college require 3, but beyond 3 you’re completely wasting your time, study it and challenge yourself if you want, college won’t give a ■■■ about the scores.

Also there aren’t any stats for SAT 2s, because the score range statistics are too complicated for the common man to understand and there is no direct means of comparison across colleges. The colleges would have to publish score ranges along with the percent of students who have taken this test.

For example latin might have 1% of columbia take it and the range might be 780-800. something else might again have a tiny proportion of students take it but have a very low range. So score ranges without the weightage of students who took it is not really meaningful. The weightage of students on certain tests will vary a huge amount between colleges. MIT would have few world histories and tons of physics.

My brother got into Columbia (3 years ago) with a 770 Math 1 650 Lit and 600 USH - However going on last years extreme increase in applications it may be much more competetive now - I personally am aiming for 700+

Three should be fine; they usually take the best three.

Math II: 800
Chemistry: 800
Physics: 790

^Columbia College takes the best two (only requires two). Not sure about SEAS though.

Standardized test scores are definitely very important. But once you reach a certain threshold, admission officers look at other factors.

personally my scores were
USH 800
Chem 800
Bio 800
Math II 800

At ivy-caliber schools, high scores and stats are somewhat the minimum of what one needs to stay competitive (that is, unless you’ve done something really amazing that can override your academic performance). After that the personal factors come into play; they want to see what makes each applicant unique (if there is anything on the application), and how will the applicant contribute to campus life.

That’s what I meant when I said relatively speaking. The Subject Tests seem like basic qualifiers.

Hi all, I am a senior in highs school and well i just wanted to know how important is it to take sat 2’s for columbia? I mean i took 2 subjects, but i didn’t to amazingly on them. I took bio as a freshman and got a 600 and then i took chem as a sophomore and got a 680. As of now my sat score is a 1990, but i just retook them in November, so I don;t know what my overall score is. I am pretty active in school, like i am a varsity debater and i received a best speaker award. I have more activities, but my main question is just how important is it to take sat 2’s for columbia? Thanks you.

I got a 610 in Math II and 700 in chem.

I’m laughing in a sad way…

I got a 730 for Math IIC and a 650 for French Reading… Very worried now!

does anyone think that if you do very well on subject tests, it can kind of make up for a lackluster SAT score? /:

I guess I might as well post mine to give you some more context. I believe I had to submit all my scores, but Columbia only looked at the top 3.

Lit 780
US 780
Bio 740
MathII 740
Chem 700

I have a 740 on USH and 610 on Math 2 and a 31 on ACT…should I retake Math 2?
