Is there any released information on the average SAT 2 scores for students accepted to Dartmouth (not just a vague range but specific data)? If not, I would be very grateful if any accepted students could post their scores :)

Son had 800 Math and 770 Physics. He was accepted after being deferred ED. No hooks.

700+ is what you should aim for. Assuming 650+, these scores aren’t going to get you in or keep you from getting in.

Really? I would have to think the average would be mid 700’s.

I’m sure it is, but not as a result of them caring specifically about what the SATII scores are. People who have high GPAs will also have high SATIIs. If you have a high GPA and a 700 SATII that’s fine too.

Spanish-800, Literature-670, US History-620

French 780, Chem 760, plus something else 730, IIRC. (My kid, not me Accepted RD.)

math II- 650, chem- 650, us history- 720

accepted ed

Chief, mentioning that you are Native American would be helpful to future applicants.

Math II 790, Lit 740, Spanish 660

I’m a junior and will be applying early next year most likely.
Chemistry - 800
Math Level 1 - 760
Bio - 740

I just took Math level 2 and Physics and expecting 780-800 on both.

I think this thread is to gauge the SAT scores of accepted, not prospective students.

Treehugger, unless you are homeschooled there is no point in taking 5 SAT IIs.

^Haha Consolation that’s ironic, because that’s what I did…

Yea but seriously there’s no need to take five, unless you only take 2-3 and do terrible on one of them. Then you might want another one so you have a cushion. But seriously, **SAT 2’s aren’t going to make or break your apps./B

fyi I got 800 on Bio-M, 800 on Korean (doesn’t count), 750 on USH, 730 on Spanish and 720 on Math IIC.

Mandarin - 770, IIC - 750, US History - 750
Dartmouth '13

800mII
790chem
770bioE

son: 700 Lit, 710 Math I - no hook, maybe geographic, ED (took SAT II’s for first time Oct of senior year, with no review or prep, because previously never dreamed of trying to attend any school other then in-state university for which they are not required)

The day son got SAT II scores, attended a Dartmouth regional meeting - Ad Officer commented something to the effect, “. . .scores would do no disservice to application . . .” Based on what I’d read on CC, I was leery, but turns out advice was accurate.

35 ACT
750 Math IIc
730 Chem
710 Lit

800 BioM
800 MathII
730 Lit

i’d say aim for 700>. SATII seems to play a minor role unless you are interested in engineering (at least from what Yale, Penn, and Brown regional reps say). for dartmouth i guess you don’t have to worry about these numbers too much, since liberal arts and engineering prospies come from the same pool, so they really can’t tell.

The bottom line is that those that Dartmouth and any top school accepts will be high achievers across the board. I think what reps are communicating is that if you are a stellar candidate, not having 800s on the SATIIs are not something that will kill you. Yet the vast majority of unhooked students that are accepted have done extraordinarily well on everything.
