SAT 2 Scores for the Ivy's..

hey guys,

for everyone who's happy with their score, congrats! to the people who are ****ed off...screw it, no one remembers this stuff 4 years from now. and if you do, get a life.

anyway, my question was about what's good for the ivy league when it comes to sat 2 scores. I know the general answer or consensus to this is 750+, but i just wanted to get some confirmation on that.

thanks!

it's 750+

how's that.

All the schools will claim that 600-800 is a good SAT II score for their school, but it's all a load of bull. Any score below 650 will probably get you rejected from the school, and 650-700 is shaky at best. I would say that you're in good shape if two of your scores are 750-800 and one of your scores is 700-800.

When I went to an info session for Yale, the admissions guy said that the averages for the SAT II's were about 700-800. So, I would have to agree with what conker said.

conker, how are you that positive that a low sat II score will get you rejected from an ivy? i knew someone who had 640, 620, 700, 720, and got into Columbia...he wasn't anything special, no URM, not a legacy. There is more to college than these numbers that will mean nothing three years from now

Eh, I think my 740/740/670 will do just fine for me at top schools. They'll consider that I come from a poor urban environment and all that jazz. So I'm not worried.

However, I do hear it's 750+

Impossible. The guy must have done something special in his extracurriculars. People who get 750, 750, 750, 750 and aren't average Joes probably wouldn't make it into Columbia. The numbers are extremely important unless you have something special that the school wants.

I need help. I'm a Stanford aspirant, but am in sort of a predicament as to whether I should retake my Sat IIs or not by doing standby. These are my stats:

SAT I: 770 V + 710 M = 1480 total
SAT II: US History - 760 ; Writing - 710; and Math IIC (it was so horrible) - 660.

Now, my question is whether or not I should retake MATH IIC as a standby testtaker since December deadlines are over. My GPA is very competitive - I'm tied for Valedictorian and my ECs are average, maybe even mediocre compared to some of the stellar applicants. Should I retake MATH IIC and Writing as well? What's the best course of action? I feel so inadequate because I'm currently taking Calculus and couldn't even ace Math IIC... Sighs.. PLEASE HELP.

Don't lose hope. Math is one of those things that CAN be improved. Work on your math and retake IIc in December. There's really no need to retake Writing though.

as long as we are talking about atrocious SAT II scores, heres a questionL will one really bad satii score hurt you?

I got 790 math, 740 writing, 750 latin, 720 us history, and a 1550 on my SAT but i got a 660 on bio... and that was the second time i took it too! first time i got a 620 on bio...damn i got an A in AP bio too...

anyway how bad does 1 hurt your chance?
