I just got back my scores from the May round of subject tests. I scored an 800 on Math 2 and an 800 on Physics, and a 710 on Literature. I will be applying to many high level universities and colleges next year (some of my top choices are UChicago, Stanford, Harvard, Swarthmore) and I was wondering mostly whether or not it would be advisable to send the Lit score, not send it, or try to retake it in the fall. Outside of SAT 2's I have an A/A- average at a top private school, 2380 on SAT 1, and solid extracurriculars and (I think) the ability to write a solid essay. Thanks for the help,

sonac, I would definitely send the Math II and the Physics. Since your SAT reading score must be very high (780-800), I would not send the SAT literature test. Good luck on applying to your colleges!

Thanks Leo,
My SAT breakdown was 800 CR 800 MA 780 WR. The reason I was asking was that I had heard that having at least one SAT 2 in humanities (History, Lit, Language) and one in math/science was a good idea.
At the types of schools I’m looking at would a 710 be seen as low or average?

It’s not a bad score for Lit. Plenty of kids have 800 in Math and Physics due to generous curve. I would send it if I were you.

I would consider sending it if my critical reading score was low or if I had not performed well in high level English/Humanities courses. 710 on literature ranks in the 87th percentile: http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/SAT-Subject_Tests_Percentile_Ranks_2011.pdf
but the 800s in math and physics are perfect scores, as perfect as they can be despite the percentage ranks.
