SAT 2 Subject Tests

I was really ill this past weekend with the flu and I wasn't able to take the SAT 2 subject tests. Thus, this screws up my whole SAT schedule plan to take the SAT 2s in May, the SAT in June, and the SAT again in October.

Are the SAT 2s looked at very heavily to get into the Naval Academy? I know it's good to have more than one test on your application. What about taking the SAT and the ACT instead of SAT 2 subject tests?

Please help. My time is limited with rescheduling.

Neither of my kids took the SAT 2 tests and both got into USNA. All they took were the ACT & SAT.

My son only took SATs. He's with the c/o2011.

SAT II Subject Tests are not required for admission to the Naval Academy.

Why? If you do well enough +700's on the your SAT's and ACT's +32 the first go at it why temp fate? Mine took each only once. He is in the class on 2010, received a LOA in Oct and Appointment in November. He did some SATII's in May- the subjects he had just completed the AP's for, SAT in June, ACT in June, and two more SATII's in October. Most of the other schools he was applying to required SATII's.

SAT II's are not required for the service academies.

They are, however, required by most other "top 300" colleges and universities.... and considering you should have plans b, c and d (assuming USNA is choice "a") it is wise to take them. Sit for november exams if you have to.

Best of luck!

navy2010, that is exactly my mom's point. She keeps saying "But if you don't get into the academy..." Other than it being really annoying to hear, it's true. UPenn requires them and that's on the top of my list of civilian schools.

^^^^^
mom's usually do get it right...but then again, I'm a bit biased!!!! ;)

"But if you don't get into the academy...."

unfortunately, that will be the fate of a lot of really great kids. That is not meant to stop anyone from tossing their hat into the ring with entheusiam and diehard committment.... but rather, keep your feet on the ground and be realistic in the process....having some back-up plans in place, and realizing you need them, puts you on solid ground.

Best of luck!!!
