So far I've taken the SAT twice. once, i got an 1890 and the second time i got a 1990.
I am applying to some fairly selective schools so I would love to get somewhere in the 2000s. However, the senior year and sports, I haven't had too much time to study. I'm hoping to super score and do better in at least one section this october but I'm worried I might not improve.

How bad would it be if I took the October test and didn't improve on anything? i'm worried that colleges who request to see all tests will see a downward trend.

There aren’t many colleges that want every single one of your test scores, just the best. You should check the requirements of the ones that you are really interested in and if they are only interested in your highest score definitely go for it. If not, you are just going to have to figure out if taking the chance is really worth it in your case. If you scores stay the same it won’t really mean much, but say they go down because your not in the SAT mindset and have caught senioritis. What would you do then?

You sure should give it another try if you feel you can do better. But just retaking the test the third time probably would not give you much boost in score. You do need to prepare for the test. Are you using it for EA/ED? If yes, if you first make sure if the score to be sent on time for that. Otherwise, you probably want to delay the final retake and give more time to practice for it as it will be used in RD anyway.
