<p>Are the SAT's critical reading/passage questions similar to those on the ACT Reading section?</p>

<p>Also, do you have more time on the SAT than on the ACT for those reading (passages) portions?</p>

<p>The questions are a lot easier, but the problem is their is a lack of time. They give you 35 mins to answer 40 questions + read the passages.</p>
<p>I think I liked the SAT's CR questions better than the ACT, but I liked the SAT overall better than the ACT, so perhaps that is all. I don't really remember specific qualities of either, though, in comparison to the other.</p>

<p>I keep reading on this site that people are usually better at SAT or ACT - not necessarily both. That may make a difference if someone says SAT is better than ACT or vice versa for reading. It makes sense - one is more of an achievement test (ACT) and one is more reasoning (intelligence? - although they deny it) SAT. For whatever that is worth. A girl in my daughter's school did much better on the ACT than the SAT - she is a very high achiever gpa-wise, but didn't do as well on the psat or sat (if you look at those charts that map between the two).</p>

<p>I thought ACT reading was a breeze. I got a 36 on the Reading part but a 730v and then 720cr on the new SAT. Didn't study for either. ACT reading is quite similar, but the passages are more straightforward. I work really quickly so the taking the ACT was a good idea for me, and I scored in a higher score bracket than my SAT. </p>
