Hello! I am an international senior wanting to apply to top colleges. Unfortunately, i did not have time during my junior year to do the SATs or ACTs. If you apply early action (November Deadline), can you update colleges with SAT scores after November? This way I could take ACT September, Subject tests October…send them…and try my best in November to update colleges!
Thanks for your time!!!
It varies from college to college and test to test. I don’t know what schools you are looking at. Yale points out that November SAT scores will generally arrive in time to be considered, but November ACT scores will not. Johns Hopkins advises October scores, but will try to consider November scores if there is a reason a student can’t complete testing by November 1. It’s important to stay in touch with the admission office and let them know that additional scores are coming. Both testing organizations have run into snags with turning around grading, so it’s hard to guarantee that November scores will arrive in time.
Sounds like you have a good plan. You’ve got the essentials out of the way by October and can add to your file as long as your scores (probably true only for SAT) arrive quickly after the November test.
