SAT/ACT Electronic Score Reports

So the early action deadline is approaching, it’s mostly November 1st for most colleges. I took the October SAT this month and the scores are set to be released on the 22nd. I’m being told to send my previous test scores in to complete the application because the October scores won’t be received in time.

Why exactly do test scores not arrive within a day or two? The college board site tells me that they take 1-2 weeks to get to the colleges electronically. What’s causing the large time gap between sending scores and receiving them?

I don’t plan on risking it, but I’m just confused about how this “electronic report” system works.

It sometimes depends on how the colleges elect to receive scores. Some schools only get them twice a month. I think there is a description of that on the ACT site

Oh, that explains it. Thanks!

Found this on the ACT site: “Colleges receive ACT score reports according to the reporting method and schedule they select—at least every two weeks.”
