SAT/ACT is everything.

I'm extremely depressed after seeing my ACT score today. Yeah, I'm retaking, but what if my score remains the same? My GPA is awesome, my extracurricualrs are awesome, my essays are awesome, and my teacher recs are awesome. Conversely, my ACT is terrible; I scored a 28. The question is: how much will such a score effect my chances at a school like UPenn or Columbia for arguement sake?

It won't!!!! Did you read my other post?

i'm not gonna lie. It's gonna affect u of course but not as much if u can prove that u r worth selecting. But if ur essays r good i think u'll get in. Tests can measure so much and it's only 4 hours while a GPA is like 4 years. So cheer up. It's gonna hurt u but if u can show through ur essays then it will work. Remember the 20-80 rule. Really applies everywhere.

I know someone with a 26 that was accepted RD to JHU, granted it is not ivy league, but nonetheless. Some top colleges would rather have someone with an excellent gpa and excellent ec's than someone with medicore in the latter and stellar standardized tests. You won't know till you apply though.

28 isnt that bad...

try to up it if you can. high sores never hurt.

Try to make the 25th percentile for SAT scores. If the rest of your app is Ivy quality, you should have no problems.

28 is good, but for penn and columbia it may not be sufficient.
