What kind Of SAT/ACT score do you need to cut it in a pre-med program? Please share your scores. Is 1250 SAT, 29 ACT too low?

Pre-med, like "attend a four-year college and take classes that will prepare me for the MCAT and fulfill medical school requirements"? 1250 SAT/29 ACT will be fine.

Pre-med, like "seven/eight year combined BS/MD program"? Then I think you're too low.

My reading of the question is, "I got a 1250 on my SAT's. Am I too stupid to ever make it into medical school?"

The answer, of course, depends on what scale he's using to measure it. If he scored a 1250/2400... well, I do think he's in trouble. But I can't imagine that a 1250/1600 -- roughly the 80th percentile -- is going to be too dumb for medical school.

Of course, even a 1600 would be no guarantee. There's a lot more involved than how well you take standardized tests.

Nightingale, there is no problem with a 1250/29. As long as they have excellent study habits and are suitably motivated they can do the work. Will it be easier for some? Maybe. But who cares at the end of the road?

Yeah it was 640 math and 610 verbal. A 710 essay, but nobody seems to care about that portion. Just read where 50% of those who apply get rejected by US med. schools. Daunting when you figure those applying probably have at least a 3.3 GPA and have been pimped by the admin folks in undergrad program they attended. We need more med. schools.

A 1960 is top 10% , 92 percentile, this year. That is plenty good to do the work required.
