Halp!

Trust me, don't do any. My parents wasted a couple grand on "coaching" that really is just proctored practice testing and regurgitation of the blue book. Pick up the Official SAT Study Guide yourself and work your way through the problems. CC is more than eager to answer your questions.

However, if you must, know that instructional quality varies according to location, so I think asking your test prep center alums would be more helpful.

All of them suck.

Your mother gives you bad options. Go buy yourself a couple of dozen SAT review books.

What's your current score?

Hah, I can't say my actual score now because I haven't taken a full length one since like 9th grade. My sophomore PSAT was a 207, though.

Self-study instead. It will impress your mother.

Sit down with the Blue Book and any questions you have can be answered by the EXTREMELY helpful folks here on the SAT preparation board. If you are having problems with a question, just post it here and somebody will get back to you very quickly. This is a very active board. I can't tell you how many I have come here posting a math question and have it answered five minutes later!

yeah, i joined these forums just in time to cancel PR... :)

Yeah, my dad made me join Kaplan too. Two weeks and all we were taught were nouns, ratios and other bull-crap we'd already known from the sixth grade.

They don't really do anything to raise your score -- nothing you can't do yourself, anyway.

Go with self prep from books. :)

I actually did PR and it was a complete waste of time; my scores did not improve at all. I would recommend buying books and reviewing those. The only reason I would say to do one of those courses is if you are not self-motivated, but if you are able to review and do practice tests on your own, then don't do the classes.
