SAT/ACT (which to send)

I plan on taking the ACTs in September and re-taking the SATs in October. If I do really well on the ACTs, I don't plan on sending my SAT scores to my colleges at all. BUT, on collegeboard.com, they say they mail the scores in priority mail, meaning the colleges im applying to will know my SAT scores before I do and therefore, I have no choice but to send them. I won't have my ACT scores before the deadline for the October SATs either... So my question, say I don't improve much on the SAT, and I get close to my current score (1820) but then I somehow get a 30-something on the ACTs. Will my low SAT scores harm me in contrast to my ACTs? Or will the admissions office just care about my (hopefully good) ACT scores? Sorry if this makes absolutely no sense.

If you don't indicate any colleges to send scores to, CB won't send any until you tell (and pay) them to. I believe this is true even if you've indicated schools receive you tests with a previous test date.

Yeah I realize that, but for EA... they need them early. And if do worse on the October SATs but do really well on the ACTs... I don't want my SAT scores to hurt me

I'm in the same boat. I plan to take the ACT on the late October date and the SAT in early October. I'll be applying early and I'm hoping my SAT score won't hurt me if I do better on the ACT. I believe most colleges will only assess you based on your best score out of the two, but I am not 100% sure. It's best to apply the college you'll be applying to early and direct the question towards their admissions office.

That's a good point. I'm taking the September ACT, even though I have to travel to another state to do so. I think I am just going to apply regular decision now because EA is October 1 anyway and that's too early...
