Hi all!

If I remember this correctly, University of Chicago does not factor in writing subscores for the SAT or ACT, right? I'm trying to find this on their instructions for First-Year Undergraduate Applicants, but it only mentions not needing to submit a writing section. While my ACT composite is a 36, I received a 9 on the essay, but my SAT had a composite of 2340 with a 12 essay. Would it do me any good to send both, or just one? And if they don't require the SAT II scores, should I send anyways if I did decently (800 Math II, 770 Chem, 770 US History)?

Thanks for reading this and helping. It is much appreciated.

good score will not hurt

The admissions counselors do not look at the writing section, even if it is submitted.

You only have to submit one kind of test, so pick the ACT or the SAT.

While the SAT II is not required, feel free to send the scores in if you wish. Those scores will become supplemental material in the application.

All right. Thanks. I called ACT, and apparently you can opt not to submit your writing, so if they don’t care, I’m not sending that part. I’m probably sending my SAT II as additional materials.

By the way, this is a bit off the beaten path, but for a top school such as University of Chicago, how many activities should I aim to have on my Common Application? I listed the 8 most important to me, but I do have several others; would it be fine just to toss them on the resume?
