Sat/act

Does Yale weigh the SAT and ACT differently? I know that they still require 3 SAT IIs with the ACT but would it be looked down on if you've never taken the SAT reasoning?

No, either is fine.

They do not require ANY SAT IIs if an applicant submits the ACT. Yale says either is equally acceptable. There are many people who still believe that the elite schools "prefer" the SAT, but my S got accepted at five of the top 20 school with ACT only.

IMO: If you go to a good school, you'll score a higher percentile on the ACT than you will on the SAT because the ACT actually tests your knowledge of subjects, not just your ability to do well on the SAT.

Lanzabelle - or if you don't want to spend hours memorizing vocabs (like me!) :D

wait, so you can juust submit ACT scores to Yale w/o SAT II's? doesn' t that look bad?

It must not look too bad. He got in. He certainly doesn't go to a "good" school either, but he preferred the ACT over the SAT.
