SAT Advice Please!!

I am taking the SAT for the first time Saturday as a junior. My SAT scores are really not that great and they don't seem to be improving so I'm thinking of taking the ACT in September instead and studying uber hard this summer. Should I take the ACT instead or take the SAT again? I also haven't taken subject tests either so I don't know when I should plan to take those either, or if I should at all.

"I am taking the SAT for the first time Saturday as a junior."
"My SAT scores are really not that great."

Just pointing out that these two statements contradict each other. If you mean practice SATs it would help if you told us your scores on average to identify your weak areas, then maybe suggestions would come.

Yah sorry, i meant practice SATs
Rough Averages:
CR: 640
M:620
W:610

Those scores aren't terrible. Just take it! If you end up doing better on the ACT, you'd only be submitting that score anyway, unless you take SAT IIs.

take the ACT to get rid of the fear of "This or nothing"

for you don't need to send in your ACT scores if you don't want to

Take the ACT because sending scores is optional. If you fare well, then don't retake the SAT; but if you don't score well, then retake the SAT.

As for the SATII, they are optional depending on what school you plan to apply/attend. Correct me if I'm false, but I heard the ACT could also be used as a substitute for the SATII.

even if you have "decent/not great" SAT scores while taking the SAT II, they won't care too much

if you get a 1900 on the SATs but a 32 on the ACT, i don't think they'd care about the 1900 as the 32 is Ivy Material
