Guys I go to a local CC and I have never taken the SAT/ACT. I’m going to take it next spring after I finish up my AA and I expect to do pretty well on it based off practice test and opinions of ex teachers and such. My plan is to transfer to UF and I was just wondering how seriously will a University look at my test scores if I already possess an AA degree? Will it be a big factor? I also have another question. My school has an Honors program that requires students to take 18 credits of honors course however it is on the newer side and doesn’t offer much flexibility in the classes if have to take. For example I’m an engineering major and I’ve already completed calculus 1 but I’d have to go back and take Honors college algebra (I tested to calculus 1 so I never took college algebra). Would it aid a transfer package or just be a waste of time to do?
UF (and I assume all of the Florida public universities) do not require SAT/ACT scores, for students transferring from a (Florida) CC with an AA degree.
If you are transferring from a non-Florida CC, some programs (teacher education, for example) may require it, but engineering does not.
You may want to take the SAT/ACT, but it shouldn’t have any effect on your admissions into an engineering program at UF.
Will the Honor’s program help in transfer (engineering) admissions? I wouldn’t think so (not enough to waste your time taking classes like algebra). You may want to contact one of the academic advisers in the college of engineering:
