SAT and ACT at the same time?

Okay so I'm stuck in an SAT course right now.. and it will be done in like two weeks. I am not satisfied at all with my SAT scores and I want to practice a lot more over the summer. Anyways, I am also planning on taking the ACT in september (sooner than i take the SAT), and I am wondering if this is a good idea. I plan on studying for the ACT and SAT at the same time for a long time, and I was wondering if anyone has done this before or what your input is on whether it's a good idea or not. Thanks.

Wow in was in the same predicament as you last year…I took an SAT prep course march 2009 hoping to score better on the SAT, but I saw little improvement. Stupid $300 Princeton review program raised my score a whole 50 pts ***. That summer I studied by myself and bought a huge SAT prep book with 10 complete tests…but my friend who got almost the same sat score as me took the act in June and got significantly better results…a 31. This inspired me to take the Act as well. I took both the sat and act in october and got 2060 on sat and 28 on act (act w/o studying). I can tell you from experience that studying for the sat helped a lot on the act because you need that specific SAT mindset for the act but the questions are easier. I knew I could do better on the act so that December I took it again after studying a book and scored a 31. I believe the act is easier because you only get 4 answer choices (except for math section) while the sat you get 5 for every section. Also the act questions are more straightforward and don’t try to trick you like the sat’s. The only thing that makes the act difficult is the small time limit for each section. This is where they get you…when you approach the last 5 mins you start to panic to finish, then all higher brain function dissappears and you can’t think logically. This was how I used to be…but during practice tests I gave myself even LESS time (-2 to 3 mins) and soon mastered the time aspect. Anyway I advise that you give the act a try and study the first time if you want. But definitely take it again and study more vigorously (once the sat is out of the way) and you will see major improvement. Most people see better scores on the act so you should expect that as well…good luck with your tests! I’m glad I’m done with all that crap lol.
