I’m an incoming junior interested primarily in going to an art school. I have a high GPA, I do lots of extracurriculars, I’m taking college level classes (both art and academic), and I did pretty well on my PSAT last year without really studying. I am planning on taking the SAT this year. I’ve heard that, although many art schools (if not all of them?) accept SAT scores, it doesn’t necessarily weigh much into whether you get accepted, as it’s more about a portfolio. Of course, I will study for my SAT and try to as well as I can, but a lot of courses in SAT prep are expensive. I’m wondering if taking one or more of these courses would be a waste of money, as my SAT score might not impact me that much (and there are free courses which might not be as good). Also, I’m curious to know how important taking college level classes in high school are to art schools. Advice?
I don’t know much about art schools, but i can answer your other question. Unless if you have no motivation towards the SAT, i would say you should take the class if not the class is a waste. most of the things they say can be found in books from Amazon.
I will say, contact the schools that you are interested to apply because they will most likely give you more “specific (maybe, lol idk)” information regarding your questions.
