SAT and SAT subject test - All students in same room?

At my examination venue today I was the only student doing SAT subject tests. As such, they put me in the same room as all of the SAT students.

I found it very annoying given that our breaks did not coincide.

Is it normal practice to have SAT subject students and SAT students in the same room?

They didn’t place me in the same room as the Reasoning test people.

But I guess if there were only 1 person, being in the same room could be possible.

The thing is there were around 16 students doing the SAT reasoning test and they were very noisy during the break. Talking in the same room!

Also, they were two supervisors and the second supervisor just sat there reading the news paper the whole time. Myself and the second supervisor could have easily moved to another room in the school.

I presume that’s why there were two supervisors? One for the SAT subject test and the other for the SAT reasoning test.

For the first Subject Test I was in a classroom with just one other person. For my second test, the other person left so it was just me and the proctor. This classroom was fairly far away from the cafeteria where +20 were taking the SAT.

I suppose you could complain to CB, but I think you could also have insisted on having a separate room to the proctors…?

I would send a message to the CollegeBoard, this is not anywhere near giving you a fair chance. Other students who took your test had quiet environments, meanwhile you did not.

I would complain if you feel that the enviroment may have affected your potential scores. I know people who have complained about such situations (at least during the SAT I test) and the College Board has offered a free retake of the test. The catch is that you are not allowed to see your original test scores if you accept the retake. This may not be applicable to your situation, but if it was that much of a concern than I would speak up. I took the subject tests today with only two other students, and I can’t imagine being in the same room with the noisy SAT I kids across the hall. :)
