SAT as a 5th grader

Hi, I just found a paper that says I took the SAT as a fifth grader. I'd like to know what scores you guys would consider very good/above average. What score would catch your attention for someone so young? (I know I think it's unusual for that age group to take it, but it was to qualify for a university summer program)

imo 1000+ would be pretty impressive for a 5th grader..........even 800+ would be good.............they have never had algebra or geometry and probalby dont know what analogies are

so what did you get?

1000+ is really really good actually for a 5th grader

btw, in ur post u said that YOU took the SAT in 5th grade, but in ur profile it says
born on May 31, 1987
bogus post?

its possible that she's a senior now...

What about a 7th grader that scored an 1110? How well do you think that is?

1110 as a 7th grader is pretty darn good, but nothing spectacular that would attract a competitive university's attention. I have a few friends who scored 1250+ as 7th graders...they're all in the 1540+ range now.

I think you're talking about prodigies.

"I think you're talking about prodigies."

Why punkette, I'm flattered.
I got 1260 in 7th, and now I'm up to 1570, but I couldn't call my self a prodigy.

I scored 1510 in 8th grade. My friend scored 1580 in 8th grade. We both attend prep school like on full financial aid. Prep school will fund you provided your family need financail aid. If anyone has that kind of score, please apply to prep school like Groton, Andover, Exeter, Deerfield, and Milton. These schools will give you very generous financial aid. I know at least 25 kids in prep school who have scored more than 1300 in SAT while as a junior high school student. Good luck to all :)

Impressive, mathmajor! :D

Why take the SAT as a fifth grader? just curious

My kids took a standardized test called the SAT9 in 5th grade,....for most talent searches, the SAT is only for 7th and 8th graders....

When I was little, my mother, a teacher, gave me IQ tests for fun....sigh

You guys are so cool.

I bet you're even cooler ;)

I was the person who got the 1110 in 7th grade coupla years ago. Now I feel dumb.

some guy scored a 30 on ACT in 7th grade. In eighth, he scored like a 35. No joke. Harvard turned him down. He's at VAndy now on full scholarship and is majoring in neuroscience.

Wow, i did rlly bad in 7th (a 1000), but i went up to 1540 as a junior this year

SAT is not as important as you think it is. Ivy leagues don't just stress over extracuricular activities for nothing. Of course, there are other things you can do to enhance your profolio. What is helpful is to actually talk to someone in one of the elite schools and he/she can tell you a lot about the in's and out's of admission. I know this prep service called "prepme" that is founded by a group of students from elite schools like Harvard, Caltech, Stanford and Yale. Shoot them an email for some tips on getting the edge in admission. Though I have to say, If you are a prodigy like many of the people in this posting are, definitely try to get a high SAT score for talent search programs such as the one by Duke which in the end can make the future a lot more comfortable. Believe me.

Damn it, I only got a 1110 when I was 12.

in 8th grade I got a 1050 and i just got a 1520 on the jan 22nd test (i'm a junior now).
