SAT as a Sophomore?

Hey y’all! Thanks so much for the help I’m advance. This is my first post so hopefully I’m doing this right! :wink:

So as you can probably tell from the title, I’m interested in feedback as to whether taking the SAT as a sophomore is a good idea overall.

My PSAT scored this year was a 1400, and I think with consistent practice, I’d be able to improve on my score. I’d also be thinking of taking the real deal later in the year, such as in June. I’m considering taking it as a sophomore so that I can make my junior year less stressful.

My main concern is whether or not taking the SAT as as sophomore is a good idea. Will my score be considered “recent enough” by the time I apply to colleges?

Thank you so much!

Yes.

As to whether you should take it as a sophomore, the answer is “it depends.”

Don’t take it just for practice. Instead, use a practice test. If you’re happy with the practice test score, then maybe you can take it this year. Just note, IMO, while one can cram the math portion and do well, the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section is one that, for most students, gets better over time.

Thank you so much for the answer! I’ll definitely keep that in mind.

If i were you i’d buy the blue book and study over the summer

I am a sophomore and going to take my SAT in March and I am so stressed considering the fact that I am not smart and I am a really slow test taker. I don’t know how to pass the reading portion I take lot of time understanding the text and mathematics well that is another problem also the writing section it is really difficult for me I took the practice test that is how I know that how do I study for the SAT the right way I have 2 and half month how do I also prepare for it even when I have homework to do please give me some tips and strategies I really want to pass it but I am afraid can I do this For those who made a good score please tell me how can I do the same considering the fact im in 10th grade and an average student

I would not. Wait until junior year. Donit in the fall if you want time for another attempt or two. Study over the summer. There is no good reason to do it early.

@plusone i’m sorry what’s the blue book?
