SAT Bio: Just How Good is Barron's?

I am currently a rising senior, and I plan on taking the SAT Biology test in either Oct. or Nov. for my early apps. This is because I am choosing a major in the life sciences, but I haven’t taken AP Biology yet (I will next year), so the colleges I am applying early to will not see my AP Biology grade.

The Barron’s prep book seems to be the most popular choice on this forum. I know that it’s possible to score 750+ on the SAT Biology test without AP Bio, especially if I use Barron’s, but I am not sure I know how to use the book to the best of my ability. For anyone who did not take AP Bio but still scored a 750 or above on the subject test, how did you use this book, other than reading it and taking the practice tests? I also have been looking at Princeton Review and Sparknotes so far. Thanks!

I used Barron’s for the SAT II and it covers most of the material well. I took AP Bio before it so some of this topics were explained in a more basic way, but imo it’s much better than PR. Just be sure to supplement the material in it for the plant section as well as hormones/some of the body systems. The practise tests in it are harder than the actual exam which can be a good thing too
