SAT Biology vs. SAT Chemistry

I’m in a predicament. I am a freshman, and I think I want to study computer science in college. As of right now, I have only taken biology. I love it and I think AP Biology is a great option in my junior year for a science class because while I’m studying for the AP exam I would also be studying for the SAT 2 test. I would take SAT Biology and get my science SAT 2 out of the way. This would be an awesome option, however, I heard somewhere that colleges don’t want to see SAT Biology and would prefer SAT Chemistry or even better, SAT Physics.

I don’t think that taking SAT Physics is possible because I don’t think I can self study all of Physics C: E/M, Physics C: M, and Physics 2 while studying for 5 other AP exams (rip) So, I can choose between AP Chemistry and AP Biology.

Do colleges really care about what science SAT 2 you choose? If so, which one should I take? Any advice?

It depends on major. Some engineering colleges require or prefer SAT Physics or SAT Chemistry. If you take Honors Physics or both AP Physics 1 & 2 then you can take SAT Physics. If you take both AP Physics C Mechanics and E/M then you only need to self study a little more for SAT Physics - many people do that.

Unless a college states specifically that they want certain tests, it’s your choice. Some colleges for engineering will ask for a math and a science, but unless the college says specifically, the science is your choice.

As an FYI, no AP science class will cover all the material that is on the corresponding Subject Test, although chem probably comes the closest. So unless your teacher is using class time to prepare for both the AP and Subject Tests, expect to spend time filling in the gaps to be prepared.

@coolweather Do you know which schools have this?

^ The UC:

“closely related to the applicant’s related intended major”.

Princeton:

“…if you apply for the Bachelor of Science in Engineering, we recommend that you take either mathematics Level I or II, and either physics or chemistry.”

Also Penn, Cooper Union,…

@coolweather Alright, thanks for the help. Looks like I’m going to be taking chem 2 years in a row T_T
