SAT Blues...

Hey everyone,

I really need help here because these SATs are kinda (as I would imagine for many) messing up my chances. I am looking at Ivys and everything else is pretty good except my SATs. (See my thread in "what are my chances?")

Taken twice, so far:
1300
630V
670M

Second time- not gotten results back yet, maybe a 1310 or something...

SATIIs:
600 Literature
690 Math IC
730 Writing

I know, I know, weak. BUT I am retaking the IIs this November!! And I will pick out two that I know I can get a 700+ on, so maybe the IIs could look like this:

730 Writing
720 Math IC OR IIC (haven't decided yet- which should I do? I am in BC calculus with a 106% average so far, but didn't do to well on a practice test!)
750 ? (not sure yet)

So there I think I'm ok, but not on the SAT Is. I will retake them in December, and January if needed. I really know I can get an 800 on math and hopefully 700 on verbal, I just run out of time on math and don't know enough vocab!

Please... help me... is there hope yet? I just need reassurance, which will make studying for them more 'happy'... I want to know that there's still hope for Princeton here!

Thanks,
Scherzo

Not to be discouraging, but have you tried the ACT?

No, do you think that would help?

Considering you're applying to the Ivies, you should definitely check out an ACT prep book and see how you would do. If you are able to do a practice ACT and score 30 or above, that would be statistically higher than your 1300 SAT. And, if you do well on the ACT (30+), you won't have to report your SAT IIs either!

Some of my friends with 1350s and below after multiple attempts decided to take the ACT and it worked out favorably for some of them.
