If I wanted to buy my son ONE book to prep for the May 2016 test. What would anyone recommend? It’s not cost but time. I’m being honest with myself he’s not going to spend that much time on it & there are only a few weeks to go. It’s more important he works on homework and preps for his AP tests at this time. He did well on the PSAT with little test prep. Most he needs a few sample tests, a few test taking strategies, and mostly help on what to expect on the essay. All these review & those on amazon are confusing.
The Official Study Guide for the Redesigned SAT - 2016. You can order it directly from College Board or get it at Walmart, Barns & Noble or amazon.
Hey, some advice would be much appreciated. I took a practice test from the McGraw-Hill Education SAT 2016 book and got a 700 on math.
This was a pleasant surprise as I’ve been struggling immensely with math.
How accurate is the math practice test from McGraw’s? Is it easier or harder than the real SAT? Should I be happy?
If you were strict with the time limits for each section, yes - you should be happy. Great job. Keep practicing and best of luck.
I did it within the time limit. Do you think McGraw is as hard or harder than the real SAT?
I think questions in McGraw are harder than on Khanacademy
lots of helpful info on here. Thank you!
DD has ben spending a little time on Kahn Academy SAT website. That’s got to be good, right?
Is the black book for SAT still good for the new designed SAT?
taking SAT this summer for first time, Took the ACT and got 30. what would be a comparable score to shoot for? ANy tips for first timer?
I want one, what is the email?
I would greatly appreciate rSAT book suggestions appropriate for my son who scored 680 CR and 660 Math on the new pSAT in October 2015 as a Sophomore. As tutoring would be a financial stretch, I’m taking on this role (more guide than tutor), without any SAT experience. Student plans to prep over summer 2016 for October pSAT and January 2017 SAT.
Does anyone know when new practice tests will be released? We would like to take all 4 existing practice tests over the summer, but don’t want to burn through all 4 if new ones won’t be released before January 2017.

Barron’s Math Workbook for the NEW SAT, 6th Edition
I understand that Erica Meltzer has been the gold standard for grammar and reading, but her latest books were published (June 2015) long before the new SAT was released. It gives me pause that she may not have had full information about the new test at that time. In general, I am prioritizing books published in 2016. Can anyone speak to its usefulness on the March 2016 SAT? Does anyone know if she plans a new edition this year?
I’m considering waiting for the August 2016 release of “Barron’s PSAT/NMSQT 1520: Aiming for National Merit” for a pSAT specific book. That might be too late to start on a pSAT specific book.
Kaplan’s “PSAT/NMSQT 2017 Strategies, Practice & Review with 2 Practice Tests” is set to be released late-May. This is good timing, but I’ve heard bad things about Kaplan for those aiming at 700+ scores. I’m not sure if it is an efficient use of time.
Recently released “28 New SAT Math Lessons to Improve Your Score in One Month - Advanced Course: For Students Currently Scoring Above 600 in SAT Math and Want to Score 800” looks promising. Has anyone used this yet?
Finally, can someone comment on the adequacy of SAT specific books for Math content review. The student is now completing IB Math HL, and hasn’t looked at Algebra in 2 years - thus the disappointing Math pSAT score. We’re not sure if time would be better spent 1) focusing only on SAT Math or 2) starting with a review of his old (AoPS) Algebra textbook (thus only leaving time for a more cursory study of the SAT Math prep books). Does there exist a Math Textbook that is particularly targeted to SAT topic Math content (rather than merely test tips)?

Which brand has the most accurate SAT practice tests?
College Board Official Guide to the New SAT. Khan Academy. Best of luck to you.
Kaplan I just read is not good for over 700 scores? Does anyone have any thoughts about Princeton Review? I hear about College Board Official Guide to the New SAT, but I’d like to find a book that also aligns with a testing/ tutoring service for classes over the summer. Thank you.
@Dustyfeathers I ditched the books and tried the SAT Up app for March SAT. It went really well. Only got 700 in Math (710), but all was a huge improvement from where I started. The app aligns with testing and tutoring really well. I can make tutor recs if you send a pm. Good luck!

What basic books/sites should I use to completely self study for the SAT? To be honest Im not the greatest at math but not the worst.
