So should I get Gruber’s complete SAT Guide or just the Math work book?

Check if there is anything available at your local or school library. We did not spend a dime (except for late fee) on prep books. It is good to do as many practice tests as possible if you are already at or near 2000. You just need to practice and go through the answers and explanations of the wrong ones to improve your score. If you are far below 2000 at the moment, you will need something more.
My Ds use Smart Words and More Smart Words from PR. For building up vocab, you’d better start early as it really takes time.

Hi! I’m studying for sat but I’m not sure what kind of CR and vocab prep book to get except direct hit… can anyone please recommend me any good vocab list book or CR practice book?
I have direct hit and the blue book… thank you in advance!

Blue book, barrons 2400 and rocket review

avoid princeton review and kaplan

just my opinion

i don’t have the 2400 version but i have the 26th edition one… is 26th edition fine too?

What is BB and CB?

Blue Book and College Board.

I’d use the Essential 500 for vocab

PR can be decent for math

Blue book is the best for grammar and math practice, but catch up on common grammar rules somewhere

Hello :)

Let me start of by saying that I’m an overseas student. We follow a British curriculum and I have never take any US test before. Anyways, I decided to take the SAT this year but I have no idea which books to buy.

I want to keep my costs to a minimum and with that being said, let me start off.

1)The SAT blue book : I heard that its really helpful as its official and has practice papers. But can’t I just download them off college board? Like you can find past AP papers?

2)Barrons vs PR vs Kaplan ?

3)Guides: So there is this black SAT strategy book http://www.amazon.com/SAT-Prep-Black-Book-Strategies/dp/0615780849/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top.

However I have also found a similar free PDF.<a href=“Welcome sheng.illusione.com - BlueHost.com”>Welcome sheng.illusione.com - BlueHost.com; Are they almost the same? Are they helpful?

4) I also read positive reviews about the PWN the SAT book. Is it worth it?

To sum things up, I am considering buying 1) Blue book 2) Black strategy book 3) PWN the SAT 4) Maybe Barrons idk

I am a good student and good at Math and English. Math takes some time for me but I am quite fluent in English.

With that being said, are my choices ok? Or am I just over-doing it? I really want to do well and seeing that this is my first encounter with the US system…

Thnaks

I just bought the Blue Book, the Black Book, Pete’s Maximum SAT, and Testmaster’s Solution. Blue book for official practice test, Black book for strategies, Pete’s for in-depth, comprehensive overview of the test, and Testmaster’s solution for descriptive explanations. The College Board does have solutions for free, but obviously you don’t want to arrive at the answers their way. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply,

Testmasters is for 200$, which is way over my budget.

Pete’s sounds good. Can you tell me what it actually contains? Like a brief over-view. Is it just like an explanation of all the questions in the blue book?

Bluebook, PWN the SAT, and Direct Hits are all fantastic. I went from a 620 to 700 in CR just by skimming Direct Hits a few days before the SAT.

Besides the Blue Book, can you guys recommend any SAT/PSAT prep books with really good practice tests? I want as many resources as possible but I don’t want to waste my time with practice questions that are nothing like the real SAT. Thanks! :)

Blue book
thats it

barrons SAT and PSAT book

Testmasters Complete Solution ran for 13 bucks on Amazon, and I bought their last one. However, if you go to their site and find it, it will run for 15 bucks.

The best SAT study materials are the real exams. I have the May 2013 SAT (or others) available to swap for the June or Dec 2012 ACT exam. I need these ACT’s for practice. Please e-mail at same62874@mypacks.net if interested. Thanks.

The third edition of the blue book is coming out in August, so prepare to buy that. I also have the Kaplan SAT strategies, practice, and review 2011 edition with 4 practice tests

The Official SAT Online Course

For Math, I’ve looked through the forums and the most popular one’s are Grubers, Dr. Chungs, and PWN. My question is which one would be the “best” choice for me to improve my Math score beyond a 550 which is what I usually get.

For Writing, I haven’t really found many books.

For CR, I have found that people recommend Direct Hits and the Essential 500.

I have the blue book and I’m doing a couple sections a day and reviewing them. I also want books on the side as listed above to help improve my individual scores.

On the side note, what do you guys think of the SAT Black Book? I will most likely be getting another blue book for practice tests as I’m half way through my current blue book.

Thank you.
