SAT by SCHOOL

Hi all-

I will be applying to Northwestern at Medill (school of journalism) this fall ED but I have a couple of questions.
(Some background: 4.0 UW, 12 APs and 6 honors no Bs, 4.6 Weighted, Great ECs with Harvard and Northwestern Summer journalism Programs, great recs, international volunteering trip, great journalism related ECs [Editor in chief, anchor of tv, director of plays, published on world’s largest swimming website from internship, know a bunch of major figures in the industry who wrote recs], senior class president, 3 honor societies including founder/president of English honor society)

But here is the main dilemma. My SAT score is a 2280, with CR+Math at 1500. Math-800 CR-700 Writing-780. Do you think northwestern will wonder why my READING is the lowest of the three and why math is the highest? Because I’m not interested in math at all. Or will they mainly just take into account the 1500/1600 and think it is very good. This could go either way. I’'d love for input and maybe a chance for ED:)

Don’t overthink this. It’s a fine score. Don’t worry about it.

@ErinsDad What % chance do you think i have of getting in?

Look at the Common Data Set, Section C.

@ErinsDad what does that mean?

The Common Data Set shows what importance different criteria have for admission (section C7) and the average stats of matriculating students (C9). You can see how your record compares to them for your own assessment. Google Common Data Set [school name]

I’m asking you because it is a very subjective process… Do you think the 700 CR will hold me back at Medill @ErinsDad

That’s a good SAT score. Given your good EC’s and the AP’s you’ve taken, I think you have a very good chance of getting in. The CR score might hurt you a little, but overall you should be accepted.
