SAT cancelled with no notice, what could it mean?

My son attends tutoring at a local private establishment. This office is also an official SAT testing site. He arrived this morning and was told the test had been "postponed" until June 18 for "administrative" reasons. There was a person standing outside from ETS (Educational Testing Services) taking kids names and asking them if they attend the tutoring facility. Some of the kids were happy to have an extra 2 weeks, but others were panicking because they have travel plans and won't be here in two weeks. I am appalled that they can do this. Something also seems fishy about them asking the kids if they are customers of the tutoring school. I know I'm being paranoid, but can they cancel the scores of the subject tests my son has already take if they determine something is wrong with the facility? We DON'T need this drama now. Nice people answered the 800 number at College Board, but they said we have to call back on Monday.

Could some one have done something at that tutoring company that has compromised the test?

As far as I know, the tutoring people aren’t even there on test days. The tests are all handled by the ETS people. The facility is a bit nicer than your average classroom, with tables instead of desks. Many kids who attend this facility are children of college professors & I’m wondering if the score averages popped up as unexpectedly high for our demographic. Regardless, they have all of our contact information so I don’t see any excuse for not giving us enough notice to attend at a different site.

That is really strange. How frustrating for the students who were prepared to take the test today.

That is really strange. I have never heard of something like that before. If you ever hear what the issue was, please come back and let us know! (I think that would be horrid if they retroactively rescinded any previous test scores.)

Turns out the testing facility was audited and it was determined that the tutoring business was too close to the test taking area. My friend spoke to the owner of the tutoring business, and he said the testing site was never inspected by a representative of ETS. So they are happy to take our test fees, yet we are not guaranteed that the testing location will meet their approval.

Did you find out if the past scores are going to be considered official? How frustrating!
