SAT CB practice test scores VS Real SAT scores- how much do you usually get for the practices?

I am scoring around 1260 to 1290 for the practice tests ( CB practice tests) and I have done 4. Do you think I can get 1400+ for the real one? Realistically, I wanna get at leat 1450 for the real one…

The CB practice tests are similar to the real test only without being in the comfort of your own home.

Scores typically don’t jump up much a whole lot higher on test day. Not to say they can’t, but it’s not typical.

You can definitely raise your score! Try to figure out what’s keeping you from getting to that next level, are you simply making dumb mistakes (accidentally filling in wrong bubble) or is there material you don’t know yet (math questions that cover math skills you’ve yet to master)?

There are a couple fantastic book recommendations here on CC for both math and reading. My DD used those, and raised her score 140 points. She said they were much more helpful than the tutor we’d hired for her.

It’s very early on the west coast, but when she wakes up, I’ll ask her the titles of the books she used…I can’t remember the names, but do remember we got them based off of referrals from here, so you could do a search
Under the Test Prep thread.

Good luck!

Scores on the real deal will depend on the curve for the test. Practice Tests 1 - 4 came out prior to the administration of the new test, so the curves might be off. Practice tests 5 - 8 came out the following year and other posters on other threads claim that these are based on real tests (hopefully with real curves). So 5 - 8 are probably the best predictors of how you will do on the genuine test. However, my son kept missing 8 Math problems in practice and would score a 680; on the actual test in March, he missed 7 and scored a 740! So the curve was a LOT more generous than any of the practice tests. While I wouldn’t count on huge jumps, it obviously is possible.

A good way to prep is to do those practice tests strictly timed like the real thing, then go over all your errors. Good luck!

There’s not much difference between the difficulty of the real test and the practice ones, but you can definitely raise your score to 1400+. Just make sure you take a lot of practice tests, go over every question that you miss, and master any material that you don’t understand.

If you have taken four and they are all in the same range, chances are you are in that range.

Start the practices untimed, give yourself enough time to comprehend the problems. Study the ones you missed, so you get them correct the next time. You will see improvement quickly. Start timing yourself on the practice after steady improvements.

The two big milestones are 1400 and 1500. Many struggle cracking them. Good luck.
