I’ve been scoring around 700 on Barron’s SAT Chemistry. Does anyone know what that might equate to?
Most likely 770+
I found that Barron’s didn’t prepare me enough. I ended up getting a 770, but only because there was a wicked curve. I left 6 blank for god’s sake! People who have taken AP Chem, which I have not taken, are best prepared for this subject test.
For the future test takers, here is the info. I’ve just taken the test for a second time.
6 months ago after AP Chemistry (5), I did a slight review and took the subject test. The format was pretty different. Don’t just trust on your AP abilities and do a good amount of timed practice.
My first score was 720 for the record. But chemistry is my strong subject (and honestly I get stressed out in exams like this).
This time, however, I solved all the tests on both Barron’s and TPR (additionally one college board released test). If you’re coming from AP, TPR’s information is just right. You might find Barron’s a bit extra.
Solve ALL of the tests from both books. They’re all available on internet for free. Barron’s will make you extra-prepared, while TPR gives the optimistic/realistic score.
Please stay extra calm in the exam… It’s a fast one, and the curve is not so generous. I’m so wishing for a 790 now! Hope I’ll come near that.
I never got more than 740 on barron’s and I got an 800 on the real thing. I suggest also getting the college board’s “official guide” or whatever its called that has the two real tests, because it will tell you how you’re doing more accurately
