SAT Chemistry - January 2015

Hi guys,
I’m from Canada and I wrote the Chemistry SAT Subject Test today. How did everyone do on it?

… I found it kinda hard…?

Overall it wasn’t bad. btw if anyone wants to know, a reaction without a net chemical change is one at equilibrium (got it wrong) T_T

i found it harder than i expected…
how many TTCEs did you guys get? i got like 5-6 but i feel like thats because i didn’t know what i was doing. also my t/f columns were filled with about straight lines of t’s in the first row and a lot of f’s in the second row of questions.
and the reaction without a net chemical change… which one was it?
also the question with zn and ag ions, that was like how many moles of zn would be needed to make ag2+ or something like that - i tried to divide 65 by 8 but the answer wasn’t there so i was confused.

in general i just think i didn’t do as well as i usually do on practice tests.

sorry for the ramble

I think i chose the one with Li and OH… for the net chemical change equation
TTCE section wasnt bad… But Part A was grueling

what about the one with weak acid titration? The question was about choosing what information is unnecessary and the answer choices were like

  1. initial reading of the buret
  2. final reading of the buret
  3. volume of water added to the acid
  4. mass of the solid acid
  5. concentration of base titrated

or something like that.

Also, is triple bond stronger than hydrogen bond?

I put volume of water added to acid for that but I wasn’t too sure. And hydrogen bonding is just an intermolecular force, so a triple bond would definitely be stronger.

Hey guys sorry for the randomness but any suggestions on good books i could get to practise chem questions? Like practice books without notes, just questions! I’m taking SAT chem in June, btw

@lucelia‌ that’s what I put too. thanks :slight_smile:

@amlchn‌ I did some of the previous tests, PR, Kaplan, and Barron’s. Doing as much practice problems as possible would help you a lot because January test had some questions that are almost same to the questions I solved in practice tests. Just make sure you don’t get the same questions wrong. Mark the questions you missed so that you can go through them the night before the test

@iamkimj‌ thanks for the reply! So that means just doing practice problems from Barrons, Kaplan and PR are enough?

@amlchn‌ as long as u know the basic concepts, yes. If not, u should be focusing on building up the concepts (memorizing… etc)
