SAT Chemistry

I'm going to be a senior and I was wondering if you think its possible for me to be prepared enough to get a 700 or better on the november chem sat? i took chem freshman year and did extremely well, but i dont recall much. so if i begin preparing for the sat now, do you think i could get a 700 by november? by the way, i am taking ap chem this year. thanks for your help.

Yes, very possible

definitely possible

What types of questions are typically asked. Is it really advanced like AP CHem or basic like chemisty?

It is a mix really. I’m going to go against the grain here and say that no you probably won’t be prepared. I don’t know the exact dates but at most you have 3 months, or so, to learn what usually takes 9, and you haven’t taken a chem class since freshman year. Also, if your AP Chem class is anything like mine was(not to mention any other APs you might be taking) you probably won’t have much time to be studying chapters ahead. Good luck if you decide to go for it but my prediction is that a 700 isn’t going to be attainable.

if you want to look at the types of questions, go to Sparknotes.com and look at the practice tests.

if you do take an sn test you should keep in mind that most people find them to be harder than the actual test (or at least have a harsher curve)

oh man. it’s possible but will be tough. I mean, i knew kids who took reg chem this year and at most got 600. I was in AP chem and was ranging around 670. But neither of us studied. If my friends studied.. they could have gotten 650 probably. So you, starting off will probably be in low 500s since you havent taken Chem since freshman year. Yes, it’s possible. But tough. Took me 2 weeks worth of review, practicing, and studying to go from 670 range to a 700 on the real thing. Go for it, but it ll be tough.
